About the Event

Amanda will do some revisiting of traditional (and some modern techniques) during the morning.

Then during the afternoon using mostly traditional techniques have a go at landscape including water in some way (lake river etc), and possibly a building or two.

Bring along some of your own images and pick up to three or six of them to use solely as reference to work from and not just copy one of them literally. Or even using your imagination completely is an option.

Please register through the website as places are limited

Bring along your usual watercolours, brushes, and at least 160lb/300gsm watercolour paper. See Materials List below.

If unable to send through CAS website, let me know your details by email carolawynne@hotmail.co.uk  and I will try and register for you.

Please bring your own refreshments for the day.

3. Spare cut-offs of your watercolour paper (if possible).

4. Brushes: suitable for watercolour.

5. Pencils: 2b and above (I prefer 5b, 6b, 7b but your choice).

6. Plastic or Putty rubber.

7. Palette (more than one if you have them).

8. Water pots (at least 2).

9. Kitchen roll.

10.  Masking Fluid (optional).

11. Old toothbrush.

12. Credit card cut in half (I will have some with me).

13. Craft knife or pencil sharpener.

14. Wet wipes.

15. Newspaper for protecting tables.

16.  Gel pen or Fine-liner (we might get to use these).

17. A selection of photographs of landscapes, which includes water; lakes, river etc. We will notbe making a copy of just one photograph but using about 4 to 6 of them, as a reference point to create an original image (if time allows).

The Morning Session will concentrate on:

Hints on preparation drawings and composition etc.

Perspective: aerial and technical…but not too detailed today.

Watercolour paints and other water-based mediums.

Suitable paper and supports.

Watercolour techniques : Late Morning & Afternoon Session will concentrate on:

Creating a landscape image that will include water (lakes, river etc.) which should bring together, the things discussed earlier. I will do my best to keep it pleasant and relaxed and I recognise I am in the company of established and talented artists.

All I intend to do is to pass on things I have been taught or discovered over the years and I am sure many of you will know a lot of the things I say or demonstrate but I will try to put a few things in that I have developed myself, that might be new to you.

I shall look forward to seeing you on the 17th.
